C. Jason R. Malaran is an associate in the Princeton, N.J., office of Hill Wallack LLP. He is a member of the firm's Real Estate, Banking & Financial Services and Insurance Defense practice groups.
Mr. Malaran has diverse experience in both transactional work and civil litigation. In his transactional practice, Mr. Malaran focuses on the representation of financial institutions in a diverse array of financing and secured transactions including SBA 504 and 7(a) loans. He works hand-in-hand with local Certified Development Companies and private lenders to provide project funding for various small businesses within New Jersey. His work includes the preparation of loan documentation, line of credit financing and refinancing documentation as well as the drafting and negotiating of membership interest and asset purchase agreements.
As a civil litigator, Mr. Malaran represents and defends insurance companies and their insureds in a variety of complex and multifaceted litigation matters. He has defended clients in both New Jersey state and federal courts in a wide array of claims including labor and employment, defamation, personal injury, and professional negligence claims. He has also routinely appeared before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Office of Civil Rights, and New Jersey Division of Civil Rights on various civil rights-related matters.
Mr. Malaran is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey and the United States District Court, District of New Jersey. Mr. Malaran earned his B.A. from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He earned J.D. from Rutgers Law School, Camden where he also served as President of the International Law Society and Vice-President for the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA). Prior to entering private practice, he clerked as the judicial law clerk to the Hon. Janetta D. Marbrey, J.S.C. (ret.) in the criminal division, Mercer vicinage.
In his spare time, Mr. Malaran can often be found playing on the tennis or pickleball courts or honing his culinary skills in the kitchen.
