    Hot Topics:Trends Burning in Association Law


    Hot Topics in 2015 will include the enactment and enforceability of technology restrictions addressing, among other things, the use of new technologies such as Google Glass, e-cigarettes and private drones in common interest communities. It will also address and continuing legalization and decriminalization of marijuana across the country and its potential effect on community associations, both from a restriction standpoint and potential source of liability. Super Storms such as Katrina and Sandy are seemingly becoming more frequent.

    This panel will address how community associations can weather these “Super Storms” and will also discuss FEMA and insurance responses to these Super Storms.  Social media and FDCPA also continue to be a hot source of liability concern for community associations and will be addressed.

    Kenneth R. Sauter is a partner in the Morristown, N.J. office of Hill Wallack LLP and is a member of the firm’s Community Associations, Real Estate, and Banking & Financial Services practice groups.

    Mr. Sauter’s practice is devoted to real estate matters, with particular emphasis on the representation of community associations.
