    Hill Wallack LLP Expands Bucks County Presence, Adds Bankruptcy Partner

    Yardley, Pa. -- The law firm of Hill Wallack LLP has expanded its Yardley, Pa. office to 11 attorneys, welcoming Partner Michael J. Shavel as a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights/Bankruptcy Practice. The firm also has added Counsel D. Andrew Bertorelli, Jr., who is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, as a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights/Bankruptcy Practice in the Princeton, N.J. office.

    For Mr. Shavel, the decision to join Hill Wallack LLP is a homecoming, having served as an associate with the firm during the 1990s. “We are delighted that Michael has rejoined the firm,” said firm Managing Partner Robert W. Bacso. “Michael adds key depth to our Creditors’ Rights/ Bankruptcy team, which already is recognized for its regional strength.”

    “Michael is a welcome addition to our Yardley office, which provides a suite of commercial services that includes business transactions, commercial finance and litigation,” stated Francis J. Sullivan, who serves as Managing Partner of the Yardley office. “The decision to add Michael underscores the firm’s commitment to growing our presence in Bucks County,” he said.

    Mr. Shavel returns to work again with Michael Kahme, partner-in-charge of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights/Bankruptcy Practice Department. “The experience Michael has gained throughout his career dovetails perfectly with the demands of our growing practice, which focuses on serving banks, financial institutions and other creditors,” said Mr. Kahme.

    Mr. Shavel’s clients include lenders, corporate debtors and creditors. He has developed particular areas of concentration serving debtors and creditors in the health care industry, and in equipment leasing and finance.

    Mr. Shavel concentrates his practice on bankruptcy reorganizations and workouts, debt and equity restructuring; banking, commercial, industrial, real estate and public debt transactions, including loan structuring and restructuring, debtor in possession financing, intercreditor relationship, lender liability prevention and defense.

    He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; State of New Jersey; State of New York, U.S. District Court for New Jersey; U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit; U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida; All federal district courts in New York.

    Before rejoining the firm, Mr. Shavel practiced at the firms of Spector Gadon & Rosen, P.C. and Blank Rome LLP.

    Mr. Bertorelli concentrates his practice in all areas of creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. He also practices in the areas of patent litigation, commercial and appellate litigation. Mr. Bertorelli is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, State of New Jersey, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

    Mr. Bertorelli was also with Spector Gadon prior to joining Hill Wallack LLP.

    Hill Wallack LLP’s Creditor’s Rights/ Bankruptcy Group now has nine attorneys working from the firm’s Yardley and Princeton, N.J. offices, and the team serves clients throughout New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania.
