    Hill Wallack LLP Attorneys Discuss “Selling to State and Local Governments in New Jersey: A Changing Environment” to Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce

    Princeton, N.J. – Hill Wallack LLP sponsored the first in a series of seminars and workshops designed for small businesses at the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce breakfast on May 26, 2011. Firm partners, Patrick D. Kennedy and Maeve E. Cannon discussed “Selling to State and Local Governments in New Jersey: A Changing Environment.”

    Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Cannon addressed topics including:

    • Trends in New Jersey government procurement
    • Ways Mercer County businesses can maximize their opportunities to sell to state and local governments
    • The impact of recent cooperative purchasing initiatives, privatization efforts and state use of GSA schedules

    They also provided a fundamental and practical outline of bidding “Dos and Don’ts” for companies participating in the state and local bid process.

    Patrick D. Kennedy is a partner in the Princeton, N.J. office of Hill Wallack LLP where he is partner-in-charge of the firm’s Administrative Law/Government Contracts Practice Group. Mr. Kennedy concentrates his practice in Administrative Law and Corporate Litigation including Public Contracts and Environmental Litigation with a particular emphasis on administrative, environmental and regulatory compliance. He focuses his representation on private clients seeking business with the State of New Jersey. He frequently appears before the State Appellate Division on emergent matters and has been successful in achieving stays of publicly advertised bids pending further judicial review. Mr. Kennedy advises clients on the amicable resolution of ongoing procurement or contract compliance issues.

    Maeve E. Cannon is a partner of Hill Wallack LLP. She is a member of the Litigation Division and Administrative Law/Government Contracts Practice Group. Ms. Cannon concentrates her practice in Administrative Law, Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Litigation including Public Procurement, Employment and Government Litigation, including Appellate Practice. Ms. Cannon has substantial experience in all aspects of public procurement disputes at the State and local levels and advises clients at each stage of the public bidding and contract process, including challenges to specifications and award, post bid contract issues, prevailing wage and suspension and debarment. She also represents clients before a myriad of State Administrative Agencies including Labor, Treasury, Personnel and Environmental Protection.
