Hill Wallack Guides Soltage on Historic First Landfill Community Solar Project in New Jersey

Hill Wallack LLP, a leader in renewable energy law, represents Soltage LLC on numerous aspects of the first community solar project constructed on a closed landfill as part of New Jersey’s historic Community Solar Energy Pilot Program. Community solar is an important component of the State’s plan to achieve 100% clean energy by 2050 and also provides low and moderate income households with opportunities to subscribe to renewable energy while achieving bill savings.  The 3.1 MW project at 900 Coopertown Road in Delanco Township, which became operational on May 13, 2021, was constructed by Soltage, a national independent power producer based in Jersey City, NJ.  The project will power up to 700 households with renewable energy and set-aside 55% of its output to low and moderate-income subscribers. Over the past few years, members of Hill Wallack’s Renewable Energy and Sustainability team, Henry Chou and Michael Morrow, assisted Soltage with its due diligence, acquisition, regulatory compliance and various project agreements for this landmark project from Project Year 1 of New Jersey Board of Public Utilities’ Community Solar Pilot Program.
