HILL WALLACK LLP PARTNERS FEATURED SPEAKERS AT COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION LAW SEMINAR
Princeton, NJ –
Michael S. Karpoff of Highland Park, N.J. and Terry A. Kessler of Richboro, Pa., partners in
the Princeton law firm of Hill Wallack LLP, were featured speakers at the 31st Annual Community Association Law Seminar
in Tucson, Arizona, sponsored by the Community Associations Institute (CAI). The Law Seminar was attended by over 400
lawyers, community association managers and others from throughout the country. It explored trends and practices in
the law of homeowner associations, condominiums, and residential cooperatives. Twenty-three educational programs
were provided.
Karpoff and Kessler presented a seminar on “Community Association Collections in a Troubled Economy.”
Their topic concerned how attorneys for condominium associations, homeowner associations and residential cooperatives
can improve the collection of common expense assessments for the clients.
A member of Hill Wallack LLP’s Community Association Practice Group, Karpoff is certified by the
Supreme Court of New Jersey as a civil trial attorney and is a member of the national College of Community
Association Lawyers. He graduated from Rutgers College, holds a Master of Science degree in public relations from
Boston University, and received his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers Law School – Newark.
He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania as well as before the
United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the
District of New Jersey. He is a director of the New Jersey Chapter of the Community Associations Institute and
served on the Amicus Curiae Advisory Group for CAI. He also is a member of several national, state and county
bar associations, is a past chairman of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Common Interest Ownership Committee,
and has served as a coach and judge in the New Jersey State Bar Foundation’s annual Vincent J. Appruzzese
High School Mock Trial Competition.
Kessler also is a member of Hill Wallack LLP’s Community Association Practice Group. She is active
in CAI’s New Jersey Chapter and Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter and is a frequent lecturer on community
association law. She graduated from Albright College and received her Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall Law School.
Kessler is admitted to practice law in the state and U.S. District Courts in New Jersey and
Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Pennsylvania
Bar Association and the Bucks County (Pa.) Bar Association. She also served as a volunteer for the Somerset County (N.J.)
Women’s Resource Center, advising abused and battered women on legal issues, and now participates in Hadassah’s
“Check It Out” Health Awareness Program, speaking to high school students about breast cancer.
