Kenneth E. Meiser is
a partner of Hill Wallack
LLP. He is a member of the Land
Use Division, which
encompasses the Land Use
Litigation and Land
Use & Environmental
Applications Practice
Groups. He concentrates
his practice in land use
litigation and approvals and
in redevelopment.
Known
for his role in several
precedent-setting legal
decisions, Mr. Meiser has
significant experience in
both the land development
application and permitting
process, and in litigation
of land use matters.
Mr.
Meiser represented
plaintiffs in the successful
Mount Laurel landmark
litigation challenging
exclusionary zoning. He was
also instrumental in
drafting the Senate version
of the New Jersey Fair
Housing Act, the legislative
response to Mount Laurel.
He has also appeared as
counsel in numerous
proceedings challenging the
constitutionality of zoning
ordinances before the New
Jersey Supreme Court. He is
an authority on COAH procedures
and redevelopment law.
Mr. Meiser has handled
numerous planning board
and zoning board applications ranging from
minor subdivisions to a
2,500 unit residential
development. He
represents the New Jersey
Builders Association in a
major redevelopment case
challenging the
constitutionality of New
Jersey's redevelopment
statute before the New
Jersey Supreme Court,
Gallenthin Realty
Development v. Paulsboro.
A
graduate of Xavier
University, Mr. Meiser
earned his law degree cum
laude from Harvard Law
School. He has taught
courses in land use
regulation as an Adjunct
Professor at Rutgers Law
School. A frequent public
speaker, Mr. Meiser has made
presentations to the
Institute for Continuing
Legal Education, the
National Business Institute
and numerous other
organizations in New Jersey
on land use, redevelopment
and environmental issues. He
has published several
articles on redevelopment
law in New Jersey.
Mr.
Meiser is a former chairman
of the Board of Directors of
the New Jersey State Bar
Association's Land Use Law
Section. He is former
Plainsboro Township Planning
Board attorney, and former
Zoning Board attorney and
Special Land Use Counsel to
the Borough of Cresskill and
the Township of Raritan. Mr.
Meiser was also formerly a
Director of the Township of
Cherry Hill Department of
Law.
Mr.
Meiser is admitted to
practice before the state
and federal courts of New
Jersey and the United States
Court of Appeals.
