Edward H. Herman is
a partner of Hill
Wallack LLPand a member
of the firm's Management
Committee. He is a member of
the Litigation Division and
partner-in-charge of the
firm's Workers'
Compensation Practice
Group,
representing major
self-insured corporations,
insurance companies, and
clients of third-party
administrators in the
defense of workers'
compensation claims, as well
as defense of tort liability
and environmental
litigation. He is also
partner-in-charge of the
Automotive Dealers Business
& Liability Practice Group.
Mr.
Herman has been practicing
law for over 40 years,
concentrating primarily in
Workers' Compensation Law,
Tort Liability and
representation of many
automobile dealers
throughout New Jersey. He is
a recognized authority
throughout New Jersey on the
law and practice of workers'
compensation matters. Among
his clients are
pharmaceutical,
transportation, car dealers,
fast food, hotel, department
stores, school boards and
manufacturing companies.
A
frequent speaker on and
author of related issues
concerning workers'
compensation, Mr. Herman
regularly writes a quarterly
update describing new
developments in this area
for his many clients
Mr.
Herman is presently a member
of the Board of Directors of
the New Jersey Defense
Association, having served as
its President in 1995-96. He
is past-chair of the NJDA
Workers' Compensation
Section. Mr. herman has
served as a member of the
Governor's Special Advisory
Committee on Workers'
Compensation. He is a member
of the Workers' Compensation
Association of New Jersey,
the Defense Research
Institute, and the American
Trial Lawyers' Association.
He is group leader of the
James H. Coleman Workers'
Compensation Inn of Court
and is a frequent guest
lecturer throughout New
Jersey.
He
has presided as Municipal Court
Judge in Spotswood since
1987, Highland Park since
2001 and Plainsboro and
Cranbury Municipal Courts
since 2004. He has also been
appointed by the New Jersey
Chief Justice as
arraignments/first
appearance Judge at the
Middlesex County Jail. He also served
as Judge in Helmetta from
1999 through 2004.
Mr.
Herman was educated at
Albright College (B.A.) and
Rutgers University School of
Law (J.D.). He began his
legal career as law clerk to
the Hon. Samuel V. Convery,
J.S.C., and the Hon. Dubois
Thompson, J.S.C., of the New
Jersey Superior Court, and
then served as associate
with Cohen, Hoagland, Cohen
& Keefe, in New Brunswick.
From 1972-92, Mr. Herman was
a managing partner in the
East Windsor firm of Newman
and Herman, which merged
with Hill Wallack in April
1992.
Mr.
Herman is an active member
of numerous community
activities and professional
organizations, including the
American Bar Association,
the New Jersey State Bar
Association, the Mercer and
Middlesex County Bar
Associations, the New Jersey
Self Insurers' Association and the New
Jersey Trial Lawyers
Association. Mr. Herman is
admitted to practice before
the New Jersey Supreme Court
(1967), the U.S. District
Court for the District of
New Jersey (1967), and the
U.S. Supreme Court (1977).
