Gerard H. Hanson is
a partner of Hill Wallack
LLP and a member of the
firm's Management Committee.
He is partner-in-charge of
the firm's Litigation
Division, Insurance Coverage,
Product Liability
and Trial & Insurance
Defense Practice Groups.
A trial
attorney by experience, Mr.
Hanson's present practice
concentration involves the
representation of the
insurance industry with
respect to coverage disputes
involving intermediaries and
policyholders. In addition
to providing advice to
underwriters and claims
management, he routinely
litigates diverse coverage
disputes including issues
arising out of CGL,
Directors & Officers, Errors
& Omissions, Employment
Practices Liability and
other specialty lines. He
also represents insurance
brokers, agents and third
party administrators.
Mr.
Hanson's historical
experience as a trial lawyer
involved the defense of a
wide range of claims,
including: catastrophic
personal injury, property
damage and economic loss
stemming from causes of
action sounding in product,
governmental, professional
and employment liability;
constitutional civil rights;
statutory causes of action;
defamation and libel;
construction-related issues;
and conventional negligence
matters. Mr. Hanson has
substantial trial experience
in both federal and state
courts and has been called
upon by the U.S. District
Court to serve as an
Arbitrator.
Mr.
Hanson has presented
numerous lectures on a
national basis concerning
various insurance coverage
and liability issues,
including: "Non-Owned and

the Defense Research
Institute's November 2005

Chicago, IL; "Insurance
Coverage Trends" at the

Public Housing Authority
Directors Association in San
Diego, CA in 1993 and 1992
respectively; the
"Defense of Public Housing
Authorities" in 1992,
and "Government Liability
Claims" before the
Housing Authority Risk
Retention Group in 1990;
"Constitutional Civil
Rights" before the
American Trial Lawyers
Association in 1991; and
"Trial Advocacy in New
Jersey," sponsored by
the National Business
Institute in 1990. Mr.
Hanson is also a regular
presenter to the New Jersey
Defense Association
at seminars including the
Annual "Insurance Coverage
Symposium".
Mr.
Hanson graduated magna
cum laude with a degree
in economics from Seton Hall
University and earned a law
degree from Seton Hall
University School of Law.
Mr. Hanson is admitted
to practice in New Jersey
and before the U.S. District
Court for the District of
New Jersey (1978); before
the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Third Circuit
(1983); and before the U.S.
Court of Military Appeals
(1979).
Since the
Fall Semester of 1998, Mr.
Hanson has served as a
Professor on the Adjunct
Faculty of the Seton Hall
University Law Center where
he teaches Insurance Law.
