    Katrina M. Homel will be presenting on the following topic.

    Best Practices for Preventing and Addressing Harassment and Abuse of Community Association Managers and Staff

    Harassment and abuse of community association managers and staff by association members may not only result in liability for the association and board members, as well as for owners, staff, and vendors who may be the perpetrators, it may also create a difficult and unpleasant working environment. This interactive presentation focuses on best practices for associations and their staff to collaborate when confronting abuse and harassment. The obligations of associations, board members, managers, and staff to prevent and address abuse and harassment whether the association is self-managed or staffed by a management company will be examined. Attendees will discuss example scenarios of abuse and harassment, and consider strategies associations and staff can implement to address such abuse and harassment. Related policies for employee handbooks as well as other protective measures will also be discussed.
